YOUNG Christopher Walsh is riding high again - thanks to a large helping of Fylde Coast generosity.

Offers to get the brave ten-year-old back in the saddle have flooded in since the Citizen revealed his string of setbacks - being diagnosed with leaukaemia, losing his Nanna and having his prized bike damaged in a road accident - in last week's edition (August 5).

But it was Anchorsholme couple Dennis and Elaine Studholme who were first on the phone to offer Christopher their daughter's mountain bike.

Dennis, from Penswick Avenue, explained: "I just felt so sorry for this little lad. He's had such a run of bad luck that we thought it was about time he had something to smile about. "Then I thought we've got an 18-gear mountain bike which my step-daughter Susan used to ride.

"She has been receiving treatment on her knee and hasn't been riding it. We bought it brand new only two years ago but it's only been used a few times so it's still like new.

"I had a chat with Susan saying Christopher would get more pleasure out of it than her and she agreed."

And Christopher, from Rosemede Avenue, Blackpool, had an even broader grin after more thoughtful donations to cheer him up.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has kindly given him free ride tickets, while Blackpool Superbowl has promised him and five friends a day out at the ten-pin bowling centre.

Christopher's mother Lynda, who said her little boy was badly shaken by the accident, said: "This is really great news and thanks to everyone.

"Christopher has been really bored since the accident and these gifts will help him get out and about again."
