THE Unibond League has been thrown into chaos on the eve of the new season. The disarray could leave Lancaster City fans without a game to watch this Saturday as the league programme looks set to be cancelled.

The FA has ordered the Unibond league to incorporate Barrow, who were kicked out of the Nationwide conference after going into liquidation.

The club is now owned by a new company, which Unibond chiefs claim should mean the club starts in the North West Trains league second division - the bottom rung of the North West football ladder.

Barrow now look set to take court action to enforce the FA's decision, which will almost certainly prevent the Unibond league from kicking off its first round of matches this week. With the likelihood of two extra games to incorporate, plus the usual round of cup fixtures, fans look likely to have a flood of midweek games when the big kick off does arrive.

City are due to kick off against Tameside club Stalybridge Celtic this week, before a home game against promoted Leigh RMI next Tuesday.

Fans and players alike may, however, find themselves at home watching Grandstand come three O'clock on Saturday.
