STANLEY new boy Gary Williams made a sensational start to his Accrington career, scoring after only 12 seconds.

Manager John Coleman made four changes from the side which beat Peterlee on Saturday, including all three of his new signings from Ashton United.

And he'll be a happy with a point against a Burscough side who were riding high at the top of the UniBond First Division going into this clash.

One of the new players, right back John Doolan, played a through ball down the right for Williams to run on to and he hit a superb shot over keeper Paul Blasbery to give Stanley the early lead.

Five minutes later Williams again showed his lightning speed and played the ball to Billy O'Callaghan who fired just over.

Having totally dominated the first half, Stanley started the second half well with O'Callaghan having a fierce shot well saved by Blasbery.

The Burscough keeper did well again on 69 minutes when a good move involving Karl Bell and Williams saw the latter have his shot saved.

But in one of their rare efforts at goal, Burscough equalised on 77 minutes when a poor header by Bell allowed in Ryan Lowe who made no mistake, firing beyond Jamie Speare.

In the 88 minute another good Stanley move involving Brett Baxter and Mark Shirley set up another chance for Williams but his left foot shot on the turn went just over.

Then Shirley almost snatched a last minute winner for Stanley when he moved in from the byline and saw his shot well blocked by Blasbery.
