A COMMEMORATIVE plaque to Jim Anderton CBE, the local mineworker and colliery manager, was unveiled yesterday (September 1) by leader of St Helens Council, Councillor Marie Rimmer.
Jim was the designer of the world-renowned Anderton Shearer Loader which revolutionised the extraction of coal throughout the world.
The plaque overlooks a bronze sculpture to Jim's memory at the Cannington Roundabout on St Helens Linkway.
Converted for the new archive on 14 July 2000. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
