I WISH to thank Blackburn with Darwen Council's chief executive Phil Watson, for replying to my queries about city status (Letters, September 10) - which brings me to another question.
If it would bring no additional finance to the borough and no additional powers, what is the point of trying to achieve city status? In passing, I notice none of the councillors has made any statement on not expecting bigger allowances if it was granted. Electors, please note.
