I AM so sorry to hear (LET, September 10) of Safeway pulling out of our town. I suppose we can blame our dilly-dallying council for that.
As for the Co-op wishing to do so, it sounds stupid to me.
They want to close their supermarket in the centre of town to build one on the outskirts, which will be nowhere near as convenient for everybody. Also, the prices will still be the same or may be higher to pay for the new building.
It is competition that we want. I hope the council won't dilly-dally over this proposal, but turn it down flat.
