WHEN 94-year-old Blackburn Rovers' fan Edward Flatt recently named the all-time 11 he would pick from the Ewood heroes he had followed for more than 80 years, we asked readers for their best-of-all team sheet.

And here are your selections . . .

I READ with interest your article on Edward Flatt's long support of the Rovers.

Perhaps, we all believe that everything was better in days of yore.

However, making every effort to credit our recent championship heroes, I select two teams - the first in the old-fashioned "w" formation and the other in the modern 4-4-2 system: Jones, Newton, Eckersley, Clayton, England, Cowans, Douglas, Dobing, Snearer, Vernon, Langton.

Jones, Newton, Hendry, England, Eckersley, Douglas, Clayton, Vernon, Langton Shearer, Pickering.

Close to selection, but having to be content with a place on the subs bench are: Flowers, Le Saux, Berg, Sherwood and Briggs.

Sadly, not one present player merits consideration.

TERENCE W Ibbotson, Woodcrest, Wilpshire, Blackburn.

THIS team would see Rovers back in the Premier League in quick time - and with this forward line, what entertainment they'd provide: Jones, Newton, Eckersley, Clayton, Woods, McGrath, Douglas, McEvoy, Shearer, Vernon, Langton. Subs: Quigley, Pickering, Batty, Gennoe, Hendry.

DAVE GREGORY, Rannoch Drive, Blackburn.

I THINK these would form a great Rovers side of recent years: Roger Jones, Keith Newton, Bill Eckersley, Ronnie Clayton, Mike England, Colin Hendry, Bryan Douglas, Andy McEvoy, Alan Shearer, Roy Vernon, Bobby Langton.

At their peak, this side would win the Premiership and beat the present England team by three clear goals.

JOHN HOWDEN, Warwick Drive, Clitheroe.

ALTHOUGH I haven't seen as many matches at Mr Flatt - I am only 62 - here is my team: Flowers, Newton, Eckersley, Clayton, England, McGrath, Douglas, McEvoy, Briggs, Quigley, Langton.

HARRY WILCOX, Birch View, Barrow.

MY ROVERS team of the century is: Tim Flowers, Keith Newton, Graeme Le Saux, Ronnie Clayton, Colin Hendry, Mike England, Bryan Douglas, Andy McAvoy, Alan Shearer, Roy Vernon, Jason Wilcox.

STEVE HOWARD, Bridge Street, Great Harwood.

HERE's my all time 11: Crawford, Hutton, Taffy Jones, Healless, Rankin, Campbell, Roscamp, Bruton, Thornewell, Langton, Maclean.

EDWARD NORTON, Roebuck Close, Galligreaves, Blackburn.
