A MODERN technique to improve people's well-being is bringing a Blackpool practitioner nationwide recognition.

The "metamorphic" technique has been used by Susan Lane (pictured with a patient) at her Bloomfield practice for nine years - the only metamorphic centre in the North West - and was recently featured on Granada Breeze TV.

The method aims to help people's physical, psychological and emotional well-being and involves lightly touching the feet, hands and head.

Susan explains: "The technique works by freeing a person's maximum potential.

"It is based on the principle that a person's personality is formed in the mother's womb. And certain aspects of that personality may hold a person back in their lives.

"So, for instance, if a mother has a difficult pregnancy the baby will grow up insecure and lacking in confidence.

"The technique aims to dissolve those personality blocks.

"Some of my clients have come suffering from stress and have left feeling better.

"Other people have benefited from the technique by feeling more confident and having a greater belief in themselves.

"They have got better jobs as a result or their lives have improved in other ways.

"It is not just about improving a person's health but also transforming their psychological and emotional outlook.

"But it is not a treatment or a therapy because it is very much about people helping themselves."

The technique was developed in the 1960s and is now used in more than 30 countries across the world.

Susan is a member of the Metamorphic Association and gives workshops for people who want to learn the basics of the technique themselves.
