HOPES rose for a brighter future for Accrington Victoria Hospital after a health minister lifted the threat of a cut in the North West's budget.

The news came at a meeting between Tory MPs and Health Minister Mrs Virginia Bottomley, and in a late night Commons debate called by Hyndburn MP Ken Hargreaves.
