DAVID Platt reopened the debate on TV replays after claiming his side were the victims of a controversial refereeing decision at Ewood yesterday.

The Forest boss was seething after Rovers were awarded a 66th minute penalty following John Olav Hjelde's challenge on Damien Duff.

And he felt the ref may have changed his mind had he had the benefit of new technology.

"We should have more technology in the game to stop referees making decisions like that," said Platt.

"They have it in cricket and rugby so why not in football?

"No matter what preparations you make, no matter how organised you are, you can't legislate for things like that.

"I'm not just having a go at one referee. It has boiled over with me because we've had quite a lot of bad decisions.

"But I didn't think the ref had a good game.

"We didn't get a great deal the whole game but I certainly didn't think it was a penalty. "In his opinion, John Hjelde pushed Duff.

"But I believe they were running stride for stride and Duff fell over.

"I don't think he dived - don't get me wrong.

"I didn't think it was a foul, though.

"We'd got back into it just before half time and I thought we looked like the side who would go on and win it.

"But that decision ended up costing us."

Platt did, however, accept that Riccardo Scimeca was lucky to stay on after earlier bringing down Ashley Ward.

"I wouldn't have complained if the ref had sent him off.

"It was debatable but you'd have to be in line to see whether he was the last man or not." QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Duff was different class. He caused them problems all afternoon. It was excellent exhibition of wing play." Tony Parkes
