THE New Year can only be a better one for Bury FC for whom 1999 was a disastrous year both on and off the field.
But they enter the new millennium full of hope and optimism, at least from the playing point of view, as the revolution engineered so cleverly by Andy Preece and Steve Redmond has captured the imagination of staff and supporters alike.

They have won eight of their last 10 games to propel themselves into the leading pack.
Flu victims Paul Barnes and Darren Bullock were expected to be available for selection but assistant boss Redmond is the latest to suffer from the bug.
Squad: Kenny, Barrass, C Swailes, Woodward, Redmond, Williams, Daws, Forrest, Reid, Bullock, Littlejohn, Preece, Barnes, Bhutia, Lawson, D Swailes, Avdiu
