NOTTS County assistant boss Graham Barrow, who watched Burnley and Glen Little in particular during his spell as a Fulham scout earlier this season, reckons the Clarets have still got what it takes to be a top-six side.

Barrow watched Burnley slide to a 2-0 defeat at Meadow Lane but saw enough from the Clarets yesterday and in his Fulham role to believe they can stay the pace.

"I have been at Burnley two or three times earlier on this season and they always give a good account of themselves.

"I know Stan quite well and after he had a rough time of it last year now they have got it going he won't let it slip," said the County number two, who rates his former club Wigan as promotion favourites and has also been impressed with Millwall.

Naturally Barrow also believes that County will be involved in the promotion shake-up which he believes is still an open affair.

He added: "It could take a record number of points to reach the play-offs.

"Any club that could put a run together is in with a chance. The only reason Wigan haven't got away is because they have drawn so many games."

Barrow was naturally delighted that County got back to winning ways after an indifferent run and admitted that it was the Magpies' best performance since his appointment as Gary Brazil's number two a couple of months ago.

"We beat Bournemouth 5-1 but this was a better performance all-round.

"They were beaten after 10 minutes but yesterday we were asked a few questions and answered most of them.

"It was not a game where you start to think you're outright winners. Stan doesn't hold back if he falls behind, although on the other hand we could have punished them a bit more.

"The missed penalty was quite crucial but that's the first time we've had the rub of the green and it was a good save."
