BUBBLING Preston showed precisely why so many people have them down as promotion certainties as they inflicted Cardiff's heaviest home defeat since 1993.
A goal burst of three in 18 minutes early in the second half destroyed the Welshmen and left Preston boss David Moyes heralding it as "the best we have played in a long long time".
Long range efforts from Rob Edwards and Graham Alexander set the ball rolling before Kurt Nogan headed a third and Alexander completed the rout with a late penalty.
"We were terrific," said Moyes. "Some of our passing play was exceptional and I don't the scoreline flattered us at all.
"I saw Cardiff at Bolton the other week and thought they were unlucky to lose so that should put this win into perspective."
