WORRIED manager Sam Allardyce admits he needs to go back to basics to find out just what's gone wrong with Bolton.
Yesterday's defeat at struggling Walsall means Wanderers have taken just two points from the last possible 21 and now stand only nine points off the relegation places in Division One.
Allardyce admitted: "It's difficult to put your finger on it, but we've gone from a good run to a bad run almost overnight. We'll have to get back on the training ground to get it sorted."
Wanderers had looked the more likely winners for much of the first half but their cause was not helped by the sending off of new boy Paul Ritchie.
Walsall goals from Matias and Ricketts sealed victory to leave Allardyce with a heap of problems.
The Bolton boss may need to sell star striker Eidur Gudjohnsen in order to raise funds for a rebuilding exercise.
