THIS local derby at Holt House brought a goal bonanza for the spectators as well as a few surprises.

As Nelson made the early running and took the lead through Kieran Roberts header after 12 minutes things looked to be going the Blues way.

Colne however, had other ideas and eagerly snapped up their first chance of a goal after 26 minutes when Richard Walton forced home the equaliser. Not satisfied with that, they took the lead 12 minutes later when Kevin Richardson capitalised on another defensive mistake to fire home their second goal.

As half time approached Jonathan Irvine's persistence gave Mark Robinson the chance to blast home Nelson's equaliser to level at 2-2 for the interval.

In the second half the Blues exerted the pressure and it eventually paid off when Kieran Roberts headed home a corner after 72 minutes. Five minutes later Roberts repeated the feat with a replica goal to put Nelson further ahead.

As the game reached its closing stages Les Thompson set up Mark Robinson for his second goal and Nelson's fifth. Robinson then returned the compliment when he won a penalty which Thompson duly converted to complete a very successful afternoon for the Blues.
