NEW jobs could be created at Burnley-based housewares and car product specialist Brencliffe Ltd who have bought internationally acclaimed chamois leather producers County Chamois and moved the operation to their premises on the Rossendale Road industrial estate.

Brencliffe employs 65 people and has taken on a small number more following the purchase of County Chamois.

Managing director Chris Dale said: "We are continuing to build our role as major suppliers of housewares and care care products. County Chamois complements our existing Rochley and Rally brand products and reinforces our position as a major supplier to this growing retail sector."

County Chamois, which was based in Tamworth, has built a reputation over 50 years for supplying the highest quality car care chamois leather, exporting to 50 countries throughout the world.

"County Chamois is a perfect acquisition for us that enables us to sustain growth and employment at our Burnley factory and to move forward into new markets, both in this country and overseas," said Mr Dale.

He added: "We are confident that our customers will welcome the convenience of dealing with just one supplier."

Brencliffe was founded 30 years ago and was one of the first companies to move on to the Rossendale Road industrial estate.
