POLICE aim to reduce bike thefts around Great Harwood, by stamping owners' post codes on them.
They will hold a post coding session at Great Harwood police station, Blackburn Road, on Saturday January 8 between 10am and 2pm.
All cycle owners are encouraged to attend for free property marking by the police and a specialist crime prevention officer will be present to give advice.
Inspector Bob Ford, of Great Harwood police, said: "Theft of cycles is an ongoing problem.
"The session has been set up to mark new bikes which were Christmas presents, but anyone is welcome to attend.
"We recover numerous cycles which are obviously stolen but cannot return them to the rightful owners because they are not marked.
"Marked property is much less likely to be stolen and even if it is, we can trace the owner.
"The service is free and we want to mark as many machines as possible."
