FORGET flying superheroes in knickers!

A new crimebuster is on the block and this time its byte is just as bad as its bark!

For Selborne Area Neighbourhood Watch has become the first in Preston to use the internet in its bid to curb crime.

Not only can co-ordinators be reached by phone or in person but also via the community website - www.patelscornershop.com

This will enable residents in parts of Frenchwood and Avenham to contact their Neighbourhood Watch about issues relating to crime and the council.

Pauline Sharples, pictured, Selborne Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, said: "This new website allows people to contact us and deal with crime and other local issues.

"We are very enthusiastic about the internet listing.

"I hope this new site is going to draw more of our community together."

She added: "All of us are very excited by this new project, and we are absolutely sure it will be a huge success."

Councillor Ken Cole, added: "The new internet site will help strengthen the community and fight against crime."

Shahida Patel (on www.patelscornershop.com) added: "We aim to let people know what's on offer in Avenham and Frenchwood, whether it's policing, housing or other community events."
