A BLACKPOOL woman was plagued by a constant ringing in her ears which she couldn't do anything about, and all because of a good deed.

The elderly woman found a mobile phone while walking in the park and thought she would do the correct thing by taking it home to keep it safe before handing it to the police.

No sooner had she got home than the phone began to ring.

Not being familiar with the technology she was not sure what to do.

And finding that it kept ringing with monotonous regularity she decided to hide the phone in the garage. In fact it belonged to Citizen production designer Steve who had lost it the previous day.

After scouring local shops and other places where he thought he may have lost it, he decided his best hope of getting it back was to ring it every ten minutes hoping someone would answer.

But he had no luck, despite trying for several hours, and it took someone with a bit more phone sense to sort the problem out.

"I was delighted when my home phone rang and a lady answered saying she was calling from a mobile she had found.

"It was only when her son came home and told her how to call back the last number rung that she managed to get hold of me.

"She very kindly agreed to hand it in to the local police station the next day, so I left £10 in an envelope for her as a way of expressing my thanks."
