ROLL up! Roll up! Cleveleys Jubilee Day committee are looking for suggestions to make this year's event soar to new heights.

The committee are organising a meeting to help to plan the annual August event and, as well as some old favourites, there are some new attractions in store.

Already booked is the man who provided the highlight of last year's show.

"Brian Lecomber, Britain's top stunt pilot will be here again," said Joe Bootle, one of the Jubilee Day organisers. "He was absolutely brilliant last year."

Along with the usual line-up of collectors' vehicles, bands and barbecues on Sunday, August 20, there are a number of new features planned, culminating in a massive firework display. The way the money raised will be spent also represents a change. Jubilee Day co-ordinator Gordon Roberts said: "Over the years the event has raised a considerable sum of money for a variety of charities and we hope this year will be no different.

"However, Jubilee Day was always intended to be a Cleveleys event, so this year we are throwing the event open to local churches, schools, clubs, social groups and charitable organisations. All they have to do is telephone to book a place and then come along and raise funds for their specific objective."

Over the years the Jubilee Day has raised in excess of £28,000.

"It isn't for me to forecast how much people will raise," says Gordon, "but one hard-working stall holder manages to donate in the region of £500 to her charity every year."

Anyone who has a suggestion, wants to organise a stall or who would like to attend the meeting in March can call Gordon on (01253) 860885.
