Weaverham 38, Blackbrook A 26

THE result was in the balance until Weaverham made sure of the spoils with a last-minute try.

Brook started well and led 12-2 after 15 minutes with tries by Andy Shaw and Ian Marsh, plus two goals by Ian Callaghan. Weaverham hit back to lead 18-14 at the break, Callaghan having landed a third goal for the visitors.

The home side increased their lead with two tries early in the second half before Brook replied with a touchdown by Ste Woods, goaled by Callaghan.

Another six-pointer gave Weaverham breathing space at 32-20 but again Brook fought back with Callaghan going over and adding the conversion.

Weaverham sealed victory though when second-row Andy Booker completed his hat-trick in the 79th minute.

Callaghan was the Andrew Douglas Car Sales man-of-the-match for Brook ahead of second-row Graeme Cox and loose-forward Derek Lynch.

Blackbrook under 18s 26, Oldham St Annes 16

Blackbrook improved their league position with a fine display. Tony Swift grabbed two tries to claim the Power Construction man-of-the-match award. Others came from Paul Fass, Paul Saunders and Andy Shaw, who added a goal. Lee Marsh kicked two more.

Paul Rigby, Matty Benson and Kel Turner also played well.

Blackbrook Royals under 16s 22, Ince St Williams 24

After a cracking game in which the lead changed hands six times, Royals lost out to a late converted try in this dress rehearsal for the Lancashire Cup Final.

For Royals man of the match Liam Williams, John Clough (2) and Warren Taylor got the tries with Taylor (2) and Mark Gibson (1) converting. Mark Leonard, Phil Anderton and Mike Ledger also impressed. Royals under 15s 8, Folly Lane 24

Royals again showed how much they have improved after suffering a 60 point hammering by the same opposition only a couple of months ago. With Andy Dobson and Stuart Slater returning after injury strengthening the side, they scored tries by man of the match Carl Cheetham and Carl Brown.

Ashton Bears under 14s 6, Royals 14

Royals took another large step to retaining their North West Counties Premier League title. Tries by Kelvin Walkden and Ian Webster and a fine goalkicking display by Paul Crook (3) enabled Royals to recover from an early deficit. Craig Littler was man of the match.

Royals under 13s 30, Leigh East 12

Royals ran in some fine tries through Dane Shepherd (3), Simon Dixon, Phil McSpirit and Hoist-It Services top tackler Danny Leigh. The BICC Components man of the match was Mike Hurle.

Royals under 12s 38, Ince St Williams 8

Royals began the second half of the season in outstanding form, with Franco's man of the match Paul Clough (3), Chris Brown (2), Scott Holland (2) and Paddy Flynn all on the scoresheet.

Martyn Bradshaw, Dean McGilvrey, Mike Webster and after six months out injured Ian Molyneux also played well.

Ince St Williams under 11s 16, Royals 36

Royals ran in tries by Ashley Butler (2), Kurt Haggerty (2), Adam Twamley, Will Abbott and 5D Consulting Ltd man of the match Bobbie Littler.

Wigan St Judes under 10s 18, Royals 34

Fencequick top tackler Chris McGrath (2), Gary Wheeler (2), Robert Anders (2) and Andrew Donovan scored the tries with Shaun Magennis the Co-op man of the match.

Ince St Williams under nines 0, Royals 30

Man of the match Danny Leach, top tackler Kyle Stevenson, Robert Murphy, Owen Livesey, Greg McDonald and Thomas Johnson all scored as Royals powered home.

Langworthy Reds under eights 16, Royals 42

Man of the match Chris Ford (2), Nathan Goodwin, Dean Craven, Daniel Craven (2), Liam Holland all scored while Nathan Goodwin and Dane Hodgkinson scored for the opposition.
