I AM writing with regard to an article concerning gangs of youths in Poulton which was featured in the Citizen (Jan 27).

Many people are too eager to criticise when they see groups of teenagers together. What they don't seem to realise is that, apart from a very good local youth club, which unfortunately is only able to operate two nights a week, there is NOTHING else for them to do in Poulton and NOWHERE else for them to go at night time.

Do people ever realise that the teenagers themselves are bored with just hanging around?

Although I was pleased to hear the positive response of Inspector Andrew Perry of Poulton and Cleveleys Police on behalf of these youths.

Instead of putting money into CCTV cameras in a town that has very little trouble anyway maybe the money should be better spent on a more worthwhile cause, for example a place for youths to meet up, preferably somewhere indoors.

These young adults are too old to be tucked up in bed at 9pm and yet too young to go to pubs and clubs.
