EATING breakfast left a bad taste in the mouth of pensioner Jenny Brooks.

The 68-year-old says she discovered a sharp metal object in her Morrisons own brand Porridge Oats.

Mrs Brooks of Holgate Street, Great Harwood, complained to the Blackburn store where she bought the item, but is not happy with their response.

"I don't like to make a fuss. I just took the object to Morrisons and thought it would be sorted out," she said.

"When I got a copy of the supplier's report I felt like I'd just been fobbed off. It was insulting, especially when it came with £3 in shopping vouchers.

"I had taken a big mouthful of porridge to help me swallow some tablets and the object was in my mouth. I quickly spat it out, but it could have easily caused me to choke."

An inspection concluded the wire object was a freezer tie which the suppliers believe entered the flakes after production.

A spokeswoman for Morrisons said: "The matter has been investigated thoroughly and the findings reported honestly.

"It has not been possible to establish a source for the freezer tie and there will be no further action."
