NEIL Warnock is still keen on Andy Woodward, but he has promised he isn't about to do an asset-stripping job on the cash-strapped Shakers

The former Bury boss, now in charge at First Division Sheffield United, first showed an interest in Woodward and tabled a bid which was rejected by the Bury board at the beginning of December.

Woodward has since been hit by a severe form of gastro-enteritis, so much so that he suffered dramatic weight loss.

He is still on the road to recovery, but Warnock, who recently picked up the Manager of the Month award after guiding the Blades away from the First Division relegation zone, said: "Things might change. I have just brought Laurent D'Jaffo in and at the moment I am trying to sell a player before I can buy again.

"I am not planning another move for Andy at the moment, but he is a player I have in mind as he is so versatile.

"It all started the first week I was in charge here at Bramall Lane. I made an offer of, I think, £50,000 for Andy. That's where it came from.

"Andy has got to get himself fit first, but I can guarantee it will be only Andy Woodward if I do come back in for any Bury players. I don't want Bury to have any more grieviances with me."
