Division Two: Blackpool 0 Preston North End 0

BLOOMFIELD Road is a world away from Monte Carlo but David Moyes showed a poker player's cool after this derby tussle ended with neither side hitting the jackpot.

And the North End boss, fresh from taking his squad to the European gambling capital in midweek, is still confident about his hand with the next deal of the cards coming against number one rivals Wigan at the JJB stadium tomorrow.

Top scorer Jonathan Macken missed a chance in either half as the visitors just about shaded a dour game.

But North End also rode their luck as ex-Blackburn Rovers midfielder Wayne Gill was only a whisker wide with a first half volley.

And striker James Thomas, on loan from Ewood Park, missed a glorious chance to snatch three points for the home side in the last minute, breaking clear of a stumbling Ryan Kidd only to be robbed by Michael Jackson as he tried to turn on to his left foot.

But Moyes is refusing to panic, despite admitting his side didn't play well.

"I want to apologise to our supporters for a poor performance in what as overall a poor game.

"But we are all looking forward to it (the Wigan match), it's a big game.

"You have to try to take as many points as you can and at the end of the season this could be a very good point."
