A MAN has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for his part in £50,000 drug-dealing conspiracy.

John Gibbons, 37, of Schofield Road, Rawtenstall, was sentenced after pleading guilty to possessing ecstasy and amphetamine sulphate with intent to supply.

Gibbons was arrested last August in Liverpool along with two other men following an operation organised by the National Crime Squad.

William Shields, 52, of Copplehouse Lane, Fazakerley, Liverpool, was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of possessing drugs.

Damian Faulkner, 30, of Hawksmoor Road, Fazakerley, Liverpool, was sentenced to 18 months after he was found guilty of supplying five kilos of cannabis.

Faulkner pleaded not guilty to the offence but was convicted after a trial which lasted eight days.

After he was found guilty it was revealed that Faulkner has served sentences in the past for dealing in drugs.

The trio were sentenced at Preston Crown Court and the judge praised the National Crime Squad for its work in bringing the three men before the court.

The drugs seized included 10 kilos of cannabis, one kilo of pure amphetamine, or speed, and 1,000 ecstasy tablets.
