AFTER reading Bramwell Speaks Out (LET, April 27), I found myself nodding to the way you summed the situation up about smaller clubs having a chance at the elusive Premiership crown and had to totally disagree with comments made from Tim Flowers.

He left, as you mentioned, because he lost his number one slot in our goal.

But, had he the heart to try harder for his position instead of moaning and putting in a transfer request maybe he would still be at the club.

It's the same with other big name stars playing for smaller clubs such as Blackburn now. They want to play for money, not through the passion of putting on a shirt and playing football because they want to win and be ambitious.

Conclusively I would like to add that the championship-winning team that we had in the 1994/95 season had more heart and strife about them than any other Blackburn squad I have seen since I started going to Ewood Park 12 years ago. I say give the youngsters a chance because it is them --Damien Duff, David Dunn, Ben Burgess, Damien Johnson --who are our future. That's not because they have talent that will mature, but because they have the heart to play football for the club that they love playing for and always give 100 per cent.

Money can only buy us big names -- it's heart that wins us games!

Look at our friend Mr Kevin Davies, the £7.25m wonder kid! Never in one of his performances at Ewood Park did he show a bit of enthusiasm.

He wanted out as soon as he got himself in! All in all, we need another year to re-structure the side with good guidance and man-management, inject some heart into the game and then maybe we can look once more for success in the Premier League like we know they are capable of achieving!
