DON'T BE fooled by my Canadian address. I have supported Blackburn, fervently, since 1938.

Even though I came to this country in 1967, my support is still manic, even though I can no longer attend all the games. So it goes without saying I keep up to date mainly on the internet.

Your editorial (Bramwell Speaks Out, April 27) made some good points. Much of what you said is very true and eminently sensible.

However, you missed out on a point that, I fear, most supporters also ignore or do not consider -- due, I suppose, to understandable local pride and the fact that you (and I) can't see how people can think the town of Blackburn isn't God's gift to a privileged few!

The point I am raising is that many (dare I say most) of the world's top footballers would no more come to Blackburn to live and work, than I would go to the North Pole to continue enjoying my retirement!

You and I, along with so many in the Blackburn area, love the area and are (or have been) eminently happy there. Sadly, others are not of the same opinion.

Footballers can, if induced, enjoy a stint in Manchester or London. Blackburn, alas, is not in their plans. More fool them! How silly they are! Therefore, your point about man-management, character judgment and 'knowing' people, comes to the fore.

Graeme Souness will require all his acknowledged footballing acumen to sort out, not only suitable players for our team, but also people of the right skills and character willing to come and play in Blackburn.

It will be a little easier when we are back in the Premiership, the problem being somewhat diminished by the standard of play the players will anticipate.

However, even then, the difficulty in obtaining players willing to live in or around Blackburn will be serious.

Before people castigate the messenger, I am NOT one of the people who would not live close to Blackburn. I love the area and the people -- naturally. It is a sad shame that everyone isn't of the same opinion.

Your point about loyalty was, I feel, the cornerstone of our club's rebirth and future success. If Damien Duff's recent comments were sincere, he is worthy of the highest praise and consideration without doubt.
