DOES Phil Riley (Letters, April 21) really believe more polling stations will significantly increase the turn-out of voters?

Perhaps people don't vote because they are disillusioned, disgruntled and disgusted with today's politics and politicians at local, national and European level.

Once elected, with only a few worthy exceptions, promises and duties to constituents are dumped in favour of party or self advancement.

Give us the right candidates, Mr Riley, and you will get all the votes you want.

A SEDGWICK (Mr), Lyndburst Avenue, Blackburn.
