TWO dramatic penalty shoot-outs decided the finalists in the Carl Brown Memorial Trophy.

Both matches in the Leigh & District Amateur Football League competition went the full nerve-tingling distance.

And on Saturday (2pm) victors Church Inn and Union Arms will battle out the final at the Atherton Town ground.

Church Inn won 4-1 on penalties after their semi with Leigh Phoenix ended 4-4. Wayne Pitchford 2, Scott Mulcrow and Dean Pitchford hit the mark for Phoenix, Terry Lannery, Jamie Munro 2 and Wayne Wood (pen) for Church.

Union Arms drew 3-3 with Bowling Green Eagles, taking the shoot-out at 4-3. On target for Arms (in ordinary time) were Jason Huyton, Danny Toone and Lee Cambray, for Eagles Greg Anderson 2 and Mark Toothill.

The Davenport Cup semi-finals saw Church Inn beat Leigh Sportsmen 5-2 (Alan Hough, Jamie Munro, Mark Spender 2, Wayne Woods; Stephen Isherwood 2) while Higher Fold LC beat Leigh Phoenix 2-0 (Jody Holt, Neil Clayton).
