A BURY dad has told of his shock after discovering a children's video he'd bought for his son's third birthday contained "X" rated material.

Now bosses at Asda, where the "Rugrats: The Movie" video was bought, are investigating how the tape contained the raunchy footage.

Mr Sefton Jeffreys (28), of Walshaw Road, Bury, had purchased the video from the Asda store in Spring Street.

"I decided to buy it because Curtis was celebrating his third birthday.

"I put the video on for him and when I looked at the screen, I was horrified to see it wasn't "Rugrats" but a woman pulling the pants off a man." The shocked dad immediately switched off the video and contacted Bury's trading standards office.

"I don't want to go into detail about what was on the film, but let's say there were various women bouncing around," said the 28-year-old father. "I'd say it was bordering on the pornographic.

"The video itself was labelled with the Rugrats title, so obviously it wasn't put into the wrong box." He added: "I'd say the video was the mock-up of the making of the Jerry Springer show."

Mrs Louise Swift, manager of Asda in Bury, said the store had checked their stock of "Rugrats" videos but had not discovered any more rogue tapes. "If he brings in this video to us, we will gladly replace it. We are certainly following this up and we take what has happened very seriously."

She said that Asda's head office had taken over the investigation to determine why the mix-up occurred.

A spokeswoman for Bury trading standards said one of the explanations could be "industrial sabotage".

She added: "We informed Asda in Bury and they have brought this to the attention of their head office.

"At the moment, we are trying to track down the producers of the video."
