A FAMILY is claiming that they have been plagued by rowdy youngsters since Merseytravel placed a bus shelter outside their home.

Ernest Winstanley, who lives in Belvedere Road, Newton-le-Willow, with partner, Amanda Murray and their two young children, says it has been like living in a goldfish bowl since the shelter was erected about six months ago.

And he has called on Merseytravel to remove the shelter which, he says, acts like a magnet for local youths.

Mr Winstanley told the Star: "We have lived here for six years and, although the bus stop has always been there, we never had any problems before. But since the shelter was put up last year, local kids have been hanging around, sitting in it and throwing stones at our house.

"Also, because the shelter seats face inwards, when people are sitting there they can see right into our front window. We are starting to feel like goldfish."

And he added: "I remember reading about a woman in Haydock who had the same problem and she managed to get the shelter moved. I have written to Merseytravel though and they said they can't do anything for me. But I don't see why should I have to put up with it."
