I WORK on behalf of the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis in Cumbria.

The Oasis has been in operation for eight years, promoting awareness of endangered species and carrying out various research and development projects.

Offering an interactive environment, the Oasis relies on visitor numbers and kind donations to fund operations.

The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis has taken on a unique and challenging task this year -- to save the golden rumped elephant shrew from extinction.

With just 200 or so pairs known remaining in one remote part of a Kenyan forest, just one storm, one fire or a virus could wipe the creature out forever.

Similar to a rabbit in size, the golden rumped elephant shrew is distinctive with its disproportionately long legs, a whiffy elephant-like trunk and a permanently surprised expression.

To ensure that the project can be completed successfully, it is inevitable that we have to find enough money to see it through.

I would like to seek support from businesses or individuals to get behind our campaign and help ensure that this fascinating creature is not lost from our planet forever.

If you would like to support our cause and require further information about the project, then please contact me on 01768 864190, or by e-mail on sarah@brunskill-pr.co.uk
