A 71-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with attempted murder.
Norman Robinson, 71, of Chapel Street Rishton, appeared before Hyndburn Magistrates' Court charged with the attempted murder of 60-year-old Anne Pearce, of Oswaldtwistle.
During the hearing, Robinson spoke only to confirm his name, address and that he understood the charge.
His solicitor told the court that Robinson would be denying the charge.
Robinson was remanded in custody until next Friday, May 12, while a provisional committal hearing date was set for June 1.
