A BAND who launched their website have had requests for CDs and tapes from around the world.

Dustfly, who hail from Blackburn and the Ribble Valley, have had so much interest that they say they have been pushed to find time to press all the CDs and print the covers for their international fanbase.

The band spent a lot of time performing in various groups before Dustfly formed and brought together diverse musical styles of funk, rock, hip hop, blues in their bid to create a dynamic and unique sound.

They have received requests for music from people in Denmark, America and Japan as well as Britain.

The band consists of singer Doug Livesey, 25, of Billington; bassist Marcus Chadwick, 25, of Blackburn; guitarist Andrew Fleming, 31, of Blackburn, and drummer Zoltan Domokos, 31, of Roe Lee, Blackburn. Doug said: "We originally went online with a speculative attitude when Marcus decided to put together the band's website.

"We haven't looked back since. Not only is it handy for local fans who wish to stay in touch with the band and find out when the next gig is, but we also found that people from all over the world have been visiting regularly to listen to our music.

"One of the main challenges is keeping the website interesting and updated for regular visitors but it is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and, fortunately, Marcus is a computer freak.

"Recently, we have started hearing encouraging sounds closer to home, which is also great, and now we have a growing fan base right here.

"So we get to market our material worldwide on the internet and still enjoy a home crowd."

Dustfly plan to carry on gigging throughout the North West.

They are waiting to hear from several local festivals and have been accepted by a couple, and are out and about continually pushing demos to pubs and clubs throughout the area.

They have just featured in a book and CD set called New Art Forms, about local artists and musicians, that will be published soon.
