FOR many months I have been trying to trace an old friend, Frank Turner, whom I met during World War Two.
He and I met at Padgate RAF base in April, 1942, before going to Blackpool about a week later for training, being billeted in Waterloo Road and later Carshalton Avenue.
Our drill instructor was an L.A.C. Briggs, a short man. Frank was a marvellous vocalist and sang one night in the Winter Gardens.
After training, we were posted to 61 M.U. Handforth, Cheshire and spent quite a while together, before being split up around December, 1942, when I went for air crew training.
I never heard from Frank again. My recollection is that he lived in Burnley.
Perhaps there may be someone who was with Frank and me at Blackpool, who could write to me or phone.
