TWO men were due to appear in court today charged in connection with an alleged attack and robbery on a woman outside a bank at Eanam, Blackburn on Friday afternoon.
Terence Alderson, 38, of Bacup Road, Cliviger, and Nigel Peter Tomlinson, 30, of Fielden Street, Burnley, are both charged with robbery.
The men, who are both unemployed, were due to appear before Blackburn magistrates today.
They are charged in connection with an incident at 4pm on Friday when a woman from Lookers Vauxhall, Blackburn, was allegedly knocked to the ground outside Barclays Bank and robbed of more than £80,000 in cash and cheques.
Police are still keen to trace any witnesses to the incident, particularly an Asian man who wrote down the registration number of the vehicle in which two men fled the scene.
Inspector Bob Ford said: "We have spoken to a number of witnesses but it was a very busy time when this happened and there were a lot of people about. If anybody saw what happened and hasn't yet spoken to us we would urge them to come forward."
Anybody who saw the incident should contact Blackburn CID on 01254 51212.
