A COMMUNITY has made a blooming marvellous effort to create a garden to mark the new millennium.
Residents of Lingfield Way, Blackburn, came up with loads of ideas on how to brighten up a section of common land at Feniscowles, with funding provided by the council,
The site was officially opened by the new Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Councillor Jack Bury, after months of hard work by residents to create the Millennium Garden of their dreams.
The whole area has been landscaped and includes a wildflower garden, new trees, fencing, footpaths and a play area for children.
After the opening ceremony, the garden was blessed by local clergy.
Pictured at the opening are (from left) Coun Alan Cottam, Coun Edna Arnold, the mayor, Darren Bell, of the council landscape services team and resident Karen Hodgson.
