MORE than 1,500 Cubs and Scouts from across East Lancashire descended on Bowley Scout Camp for a special three-day event to mark the new millennium.
They took part in a variety of activities including building a model of the Millennium Dome out of poles and ropes and racing chariots in time trials, and competed in teams from each district.
The camp was also visited by the Mayors and Mayoresses of Clitheroe, Burnley, Hyndburn, Rossendale, Pendle, and the Ribble Valley, as well as Lord David Waddington, president of East Lancashire Scouts. One Scout was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary with a minor back injury after falling from the top of a climbing frame.
Simon Nanson, county secretary, said: "The Cubs and Scouts thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They got wet and muddy but that was all part of the fun."
