A GOVERNMENT veil of secrecy was costing the sick thousands of pounds, according to health watchdogs.
The Department of Health was refusing to publish the prices of the 100 most commonly prescribed drugs -- despite claims that 74 of them cost less than the £5.25 prescription charge.
Two were understood to cost just seven pence.
