BLACKPOOL fell to a dramatic last ball defeat at Leyland on Saturday (May 27) in the Bay 96.9 Northern Premier League match.

After the home side set Leyland a target of 160, Blackpool's bowlers were set a difficult task, but had them reeling at 118 for six following a middle order collapse.

In the end it was left to Brian Tennant to hit the winning runs to see Leyland home for the loss of eight wickets.

This capped a superb performance for the former St Annes captain who claimed six wickets for 59 runs in the Blackpool innings.

Danson and Singh were the top scorers of the Blackpool innings scoring 46 and 35 respectively but no one else was able to build a substantial innings.

Leyland got off to solid start with opener Rimmer scoring 67 but he was the only batsman to shine for the home side.

Singh and Sharp were the pick of the Blackpool bowlers taking five wickets between them with Walton and Namajee taking one wicket a piece.

In the tightest of finishes four runs were needed for victory from the last over off Blackpool professional Marcus Sharp.

Tennant gave a catching chance after trying to finish the match with a six off the penultimate ball.

But the chance was spilled and a last ball drive disected the fielders and saw Leyland home to victory.
