DETERMINATION, passion and a manager all players respect -- they are the tree qualities which ensured Bournemouth midfielder Steve Robinson became PNE's first summer signing.

Speaking about his £375,000 move from the South coast side, the 25-year-old proven goalscorer said: "Looking at North End, they are one of the teams you want to be in at the moment.

"I have a lot of respect for manager David Moyes because he has done such a great job here.

"The club is determined to succeed and there is a lot of passion about football success here. It is great to signing for them."

Robinson signed late last week for Preston, after months of speculation linking him to the a move to North End. The £375,000 paid out by PNE for him is sure to please David Moyes, who just loves a bargain.

Robinson knows all too well what a force Preston can be, having played, and lost, against the Lilywhites as they went for promotion.

The Northern Ireland international added: "Playing against them was like chasing shadows. I just can't wait to be part of that."

The Citizen first reported North End's interest in March, and we revealed last week that Burnley were also in the running for the player.

But Moyes has got his man, and appears to be happy with the deal which has been done.

He said: "We are delighted we've signed Steve.

"We have been looking to bring in a midfield player who would bring us something different and I feel Steve's ability to score goals and his ability to play in several positions is a plus for us.

"We have signed another full international and the way the club is rising, you cannot have enough players of that calibre in your squad.

"The fee of £375,000 is a realistic price. There were quotes in the media suggesting figures around £750,000 so I think we have got a very good player for a decent price."
