I'M writing in response to your request as to whether Lancaster needs a bus station or not.
Being a daily bus user who has been extremely inconvenienced by the present arrangements I can only imagine that Morecambe Bay Independent councillors never travel by bus.
At a time when most cities are investing in their public transport networks is Lancaster going backwards?
A bus station is essential to encourage more people to use public transport which should be as easy as possible. Shops in Lancaster are already losing custom from Morecambe shoppers. Who wants to get soaked waiting for a bus back home from a shelter less queens square stop with bags of shopping?
It seems the council is showing total contempt to people who are trying to help the environment not to mention some of Lancaster's most vulnerable people (elderly, disabled, less well off) by messing about thousands of people.
On a more practical point why was a bus station not properly costed before the old one was closed? We as council tax payers deserve to know what the council is going to do next and quickly at least we could keep dry and had less walking with the old bus station councillors should never forget who puts them in to power.
