THIS country should be a lot warmer with the amount of hot air we expel.

Now I don't like boxing at all, and I'd bet I'd like Mike Tyson a lot less, but aren't we over-reacting to the issue of him being let into the UK?

The guy committed one of the worst crimes and paid for it. And he's coming over to box, during which time he'll be under the media spotlight non-stop.

So there's little chance of him running amok while he's here.

But nearly every politician I've heard of is out with his or her soap box. These same people bring mass murderers, torturers and thieves into this country, and get the Queen to shake hands with them.

But these lot aren't boxers -- they're called premiers, presidents and the like.

This of course doesn't make Mr Tyson any better, but surely he'll be of little threat with the ring of police they'll throw around him.

I know, if I had to make a choice, where I'd sooner my wife or daughter be on that Saturday night -- either at the Tyson fight or walking home alone from Preston town centre. No contest.
