Sutton skipper Ian Greener won the toss and asked Aigburth to bat. From the start Sutton bowled superbly and Ray Foster with figures of 3-20 from 20 overs, Ian Greener (3-10) and Bapa Mukherjee with 3-4 were in sparkling form as was Sean Anders who pulled off an excellent catch to dismiss Aigburth's professional.

Sutton were able to win by nine wickets with Mike Rimmer hitting an unbeaten 34.

The Second XI won the toss at New Street and decided to bowl. Aigburth though batted superbly to reach 208-5 declared. Unfortunately Sutton were always behind the run rate against a strong Aigburth side and closed on 125-7 to draw the match.

On Sunday a good performance in the field by the third team to restrict a powerful Highfield side to 174 all out was not backed up by the batsmen as Sutton lost their cup match by 99 runs.

On Sunday the First XI played Tranmere Victoria in the Kaufman Cup Knockout.

Batting first Sutton made 250-6 from 45 overs. Geoff Bowles 63, Sean Anders 62 and Mike Rimmer 42 the main destroyers. In reply Tranmere were 54 all out with the bowlers sharing the wickets but Steve Greener in particular bowling well.
