RAINHILL stormed to a seven-wicket victory over Widnes outfit Moorfield.

Semi-professional Paul Robinson started the ball rolling with figures of 3-48 off 11 overs. They tried their best to get out of trouble, but succumbed to Rainhill's pace attack.

Nick Chapman took two wickets in his first over and finished with 3-18 and Mattie Dale mopped up the tail with 3-4 runs as the Moorfield innings ended at 74 all out. However, Rainhill were in danger of collapse at 1 for none, but then the big guns took over with Steve Meredith scoring an excellent 31 before being bowled. Dominic Sparkes then stepped up the pace with an unbeaten 27, a partnership of 59. Paul Robinson came in and scored the winning runs with 17 not out at 77-3.

The 2nd XI were at home where Moorfield scored 179. Young Mark Ford gave the team a bowling point by taking an excellent 3-18. After tea Rainhill weren't given much time to mount a reply, but did really well to reach 111) when the last over of the 20 were bowled.

The under 15s played two matches in the Sunlife of Canada National Knockout.

The first was against Sefton when Conor Morris made a fine half century with terrific support from Matthew Dooling (28) as Rainhill made 103-3. Inreply, Sefton scored 101-6 with Liam Pearson taking three of them. Second match wasagainst Wavertree on a rain soaked Friday night. Rainhill made a great start with Matthew Dooling compiling an impressive unbeaten 53. Unfortunately Conor Morris was given out LBW for 23 building a partnership of 63 to finish on 128-3 off 20 overs. Wavertree only managed 50-6 which was due to Colin Gannan's brilliant bowling figures of 2-4.
