A NEW conference centre is pioneering an on-line learning initiative.

Education and training bosses from across East Lancashire attended the official opening of the Clayton Park Conference and Learning centre.

The centre, at the Junction 7 Business park, in Clayton-le-Moors, has been created by the East Lancashire Education Business Partnerships, which has outgrown its existing facilities on the site.

The six new conference rooms are all equipped with high-tech audio visual equipment

The centre has also been chosen under the government's University for Industry initiative to be one of the first Learndirect centres in the country.

The Learndirect scheme offers on-line learning opportunities to businesses in a bid to improve skills in the workforce.

Guest speaker at the opening was Jonathan Warburton, director of Bolton-based Warburtons, which has a bakery in Burnley.
