REGARDING the complaints by Councillor Jean Battle about empty houses in Hyndburn (LET, June 15).
I never heard her bringing this up when she was vice-chairman of the housing committee in the last Labour administration.
Labour were in control for 13 years, in which time most of these houses she refers to were awarded grants.
It is hardly likely that any have been renovated since the Tories gained control 13 months ago as this government has cut local government spending and we have lost European grant aid.
