YORKSHIRE exile Gary Keedy insists he now treats the Roses Match as "just another game."

But he is already looking forward to Lancashire's trip to Headingley at the end of July.

Keedy, who was lured across the Pennines by then Lancashire coach David Lloyd in 1995, played a key role in a third consecutive Championship win over the old enemy with match figures of 7-88.

It was his second match-winning performance against his former county following his five wicket haul in the second innings at Headingley in 1998. "It's just the same as taking wickets against anyone else," he said with a grin afterwards.

But soon he added: "We go to Yorkshire in a few weeks -- I definitely hope I'm playing in that one, although I think the pitch might be a bit different to the one we've had at Old Trafford."

Keedy believes he is bowling better than ever after a hard winter's work including some sessions with new Lancashire coach Bob Simpson.

And skipper John Crawley agrees. "He's definitely bowling very well," said Crawley. "You could see the improvement as soon as Bob linked up with us on our pre-season tour of South Africa, and he's come back to England and carried that on." YORKSHIRE
