A 42-YEAR-OLD woman appeared before magistrates today charged with arson with intent to endanger life in connection with a blaze at her disabled mother's home.
Grace Warburton, 76, who is in a wheelchair, was helped out of her burning ground floor sheltered accommodation flat at Kinross Walk, Blackburn, by neighbour Pat Gough.
Firefighters said the blaze started in the bedroom of the ground floor flat at about 1.20pm yesterday and caused extensive damage.
Mrs Warburton's pet birds and hamsters had to be rescued from the building by the fire brigade.
Neighbours said social services had found Mrs Warburton somewhere else to stay.
Adele Warburton, who formerly lived in the Salvation Army hostel in Blackburn, was sent to Preston Crown Court for trial by Blackburn magistrates.
Ian Huggan, defending, did not apply for bail and Warburton was remanded in custody.
